To celebrate the dedication to artistry and craftsmanship at the heart of the house, McQueen introduces an exclusive collection of intricately embellished evening clutches.
First introduced by Lee Alexander McQueen in 2009, the Knuckle Clutch has become a signature of the house. It combines the expertise and savoir-faire of the McQueen atelier with knuckle-inspired hardware, a symbol of the rebellious energy at the heart of the house.
Since its inception, the Knuckle Clutch has been transformed through different contemporary, sculptural handles and intricate embroideries. For this special 2025 collection, 6 new variations are introduced, combining some of the most memorable, archival sculptural handles, with newly developed embellishments.
ROSE AND SNAKE KNUCKLE CLUTCH
First released for Spring Summer 2018, the ‘Rose and Snake’ Knuckle Clutch embodies McQueen’s enduring connection with nature. The handle forms a dramatic sculpted motif, cast in metal. A British garden snake coiled around the stem of a singular rose with a skull, a signature of the house. The accompanying embroidered artwork features three-dimensional floral embroidery, comprised of various sized glass crystal stones and beadwork applied to black leather.
SPIDER JEWELLED KNUCKLE CLUTCH
First released for Autumn Winter 2019, the ‘Spider’ Jewelled Knuckle Clutch features four individual rings to create the signature knuckle handle. Each ring is cut to a different shape and completed with a faceted stone, with one ring bearing an intricate spider motif, a reference to the subverted beauty of nature, integral to the house.
ROSE KNUCKLE CLUTCH
First released for Autumn Winter 2015, the ‘Rose’ Knuckle Clutch interprets the narrative of ‘The English Rose’, a reoccurring jewellery theme for McQueen. An arrangement of statement metal roses, handcrafted using a jewellery casting technique, adorn the signature knuckle handle. The mirror-finish roses are contrasted with jet-black, faceted crystal embroidery applied to a black satin base.
