Supporting Creativity
Alexander McQueen is committed to investing in the future of fashion through education and creative opportunity. The house offers an extensive and dynamic education programme dedicated to sharing the history and skills of the house, empowering communities and supporting the next generation of creatives.
Workshops & Programmes
A programme established in 2019, Alexander McQueen connects with universities, colleges, schools and community groups across the UK, creating a diverse programme of workshops, talks and live design briefs to offer students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of design and craft. Fundamental McQueen disciplines are explored with the support of the McQueen studio, such as tailoring, drape, embroidery and print, providing insight into a breadth of roles and skills within the fashion industry.
A Team Arts Education
Alexander McQueen supports A Team Arts Education, a community youth arts education organisation located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. A Team Arts Education works to support the aspirations of young people to enter arts and design careers and acts as a catalyst for progress and attainment in an inner-London district with one of the fastest-growing, youngest and most diverse populations in the UK.
Sarabande Foundation
Alexander McQueen supports the Sarabande Foundation, a charitable foundation founded in 2006 by Lee Alexander McQueen with the ambition to support future generations of creative and visionary talent. In addition to providing scholarships and a number of subsidised studio spaces for artists, Sarabande stages an extensive programme of events, from the practical to the inspirational.
Central Saint Martins
Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, has been connected to the heritage of the house since Lee Alexander McQueen graduated from the MA Fashion course in 1992. The house continues to support the MA programme, providing a full scholarship each year to one student enrolled on the course who demonstrates exceptional creative visionary talent.
McQueen also donate surplus fabrics to BA Fashion courses and provide mentorship on live briefs and projects.
Fabric Donation Scheme
The Alexander McQueen fabric donation scheme redirects surplus house fabrics to students who are studying fashion and textiles at universities, colleges and community education projects throughout the United Kingdom.
