Caring For Your Bags

At McQueen, every bag reflects expert craftsmanship, precision, and heritage. Our artisans select only the finest materials, each tested to meet the highest standards of quality.

To preserve the beauty and integrity of your McQueen bag over time, we invite you to follow our care guidelines tailored to each material.

- Protect your bag from water, oils, fragrance and makeup.

- If your handbag or leather item comes into contact with water, gently dab with a soft, natural-coloured cloth. Do not rub the surface.

- Keep away from direct sunlight, humidity and extreme weather condition.

- Do not apply care products that are not designed for your item, such as shoe polish, trichloroethylene, oils, stain removers, alcohol or solvents.

- When not in use, store upright in its flannel pouch with tissue paper inside to help it retain its shape.

- If your metal hardware components loses its shine, do not rub the surface with rough or abrasive materials.

Each natural leather used in our collections is chosen with intention. Natural markings—creases, veins, subtle shifts in tone—are to be expected. They are hallmarks of authenticity and quality of the material. Due to the natural finishing process, this leather may be sensitive to rubbing, both when wet and dry.

Additional care for leather:

- Avoid friction and rubbing, especially when the leather is wet.

- Should it come into contact with water, do not rub. Gently blot with a soft, light-coloured cloth.

- Allow the item to rest when not in use. Store in a dry, cool place, away from light. Avoid plastic or anti-moisture bags.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Painted, sandblasted and coated leathers require particular care due to their specialized finish. Colour transfer is a natural characteristic of these materials. The high-gloss finish may develop fine surface lines over time, particularly around closures and along natural folds. These subtle variations and slight imperfections are part of the material’s unique character.

Additional care for patent:

- Avoid contact with pale-colored articles or with other dark-colored materials to prevent colour transfer.

- Store away from direct light to maintain its sheen.

- Avoid prolonged pressure or friction on finished areas.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Suede and nubuck are distinguished by their rich colours and velvety finish, achieved through specific dyeing and napping techniques. Due to their natural characteristics, slight colour transfer and residual dust may occur and cannot be completely avoided.

Additional care for suede:

- Avoid contact with light-coloured clothing, especially with darker shades and vice versa.

- Light-coloured bags, especially white and beige bags, are particularly sensitive to light, dust and stains.

- Keep away from water and other liquids.

- Store in breathable fabric—never in plastic.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Finishes such as foils, sequins, beads, glitter, vintage-look cracklé, ink-jet prints, and other surface transfers are beautifully distinctive and should be handled with care.

Burnished effects are created through an artisanal process to achieve contrasting tones; minor variations and irregularities are natural. A protective treatment may be applied, but these finishes remain more delicate and less resistant to abrasion. These finishes naturally age and may become subtly dulled or less defined over time. Loss of finish, transfer, or print may occur, especially on corners and high-contact areas.

Additional care for special finishes:

- Expect natural change over time, such as dulling, soft abrasion, loss at edges. These are part of the life of the bag.

- Avoid overfilling, friction, abrasion, scratches, and repeated rubbing.

- Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, cold, or humidity.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

High-quality fabrics crafted with traditional techniques and special finishes have a unique appearance. Natural, dyed, and printed textiles are delicate by nature and have low resistance to rubbing, wet or dry. Some items may also combine natural and synthetic materials; the same care instructions apply to all components to preserve their appearance over time.

Additional care for textile:

- Keep away from water and other liquids.

- Avoid rubbing the item against rough or abrasive surfaces.

- If the item becomes dirty, consult a specialist or contact the store where it was purchased.

- Pale-coloured items, particularly white or beige, are highly sensitive to light, dust, and stains, and are difficult to restore if damaged.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Bags with embroidery, rhinestones, or intricate applications require delicate handling.

Rhinestones, beads and threadwork are individually applied, creating pieces that are both unique and fragile. Slight asymmetries and variations are a testament to hand craftsmanship.

Additional care for embroidered bags:

- Avoid contact with rough surfaces and textured garments.

- Do not expose to alcohol, acetone or other corrosive substances.

- Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, cold, or humidity.

- Store with care, filled with tissue, in its original pouch or box.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Articles crafted with special materials in fluorescent colors require careful handling. Fluorescent colors have low resistance to both natural and artificial light and may undergo a noticeable change in tone over time.

Additional care for bags in fluorescent colour:

- Avoid prolonged exposure to heat, cold, or humidity.

- Keep away from water and other liquids.

- Store away from direct light to preserve color and sheen.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Precious leathers are naturally unique and may present subtle variations in color, scale pattern, or small surface irregularities. Finished with minimal treatment to highlight their natural beauty, they are more sensitive to abrasion and may develop shading or light fading in high contact areas over time. These natural changes are part of the authenticity and distinctive character of the material.

Additional care for precious leather:

- If your handbag or leather item comes into contact with water, gently dab with a soft, natural-coloured cloth moving against the direction of scales, if applicable.

- Keep away from water and other liquids.

- Avoid contact with abrasive surfaces, direct sunlight, heat and damp environments for prolonged periods.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Made from leather developed for an artisanal finishing treatment. Its distinctive look is created by spraying a dark colour, then partially removing it by hand to achieve contrasting tones. Minor irregularities and variations in the finish are a natural result of this process.

A protective treatment is applied; however, the finish remains more delicate and less resistant to abrasion.

Additional care for precious exotic print:

- Protect from rain; if wet, pat dry with a soft cloth.

- Do not apply care products that are not designed for your item.

- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct light and heat, as colour may change over time.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Each piece is handmade by skilled artisans using carefully selected, quality-tested materials. Subtle variations in shape, colour, or size reflect the one-of-a-kind nature.

- Avoid contact with water, oils, alcohol, perfumes, and make-up.

- Store away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity when storing.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.

Metal Hardware Care

Metal hardware completes the design. Crafted with precision for durability and performance, these components are typically made of brass, stainless steel, zamak, or aluminium. They may feature a precious metal galvanic finish (such as gold, palladium, or ruthenium) or a varnished finish.

The lacquer used on components is highly qualitative and resistant, for the nature of the finish process, minor dots or surface irregularities may be present. These natural variations are part of the craftsmanship and contribute to the product’s authenticity and uniqueness.

The precious and unique design of our product has been created by enhancing its details and three-dimensionality. Any accidental impacts with hard surfaces or blunt objects could compromise its appearance and integrity. If shine fades, do not use abrasive materials.

Resign and Polymer Materials Care

Components made from resin-based polymer blends may be coloured or finished using specialized painting processes. To preserve its appearance over time:

- If the surface loses its shine, do not rub with rough or abrasive materials.

- Do not use silver polish, alcohol, solvents, or chemical cleaners.

- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and heat, as colour changes may occur over time.

For general handling and storage, please refer to the Essential Care Guidelines above.
