For AW13, McQ offers a menswear collection featuring re-engineered hybrid pieces, fusing tailoring and sportswear to create new styles. Patchworked garments appear recycled and sit alongside versatile styles that can be worn in many different ways. Drawing on the rebellious influences which define the brand, the McQ man is inspired by British subcultures including mods and skinheads.
Hybrid garments are prominent, appearing as if styles have been fused together. A tailored jacket has a leather biker-jacket inspired belt and back, whilst a coat and bomber jacket come together as one, and a smart trouser features leather and fabric panels. Athleticwear and knitwear merge to create a polo neck jumper with monochrome tracksuit sleeves and a smart trouser with sport side stripes. Tailoring is mod-inspired, including a three-button jacket and a waistcoat with buttons positioned high up on the garment. Other subculture influences include jeans that appear to be covered in red bleached marks, and a classic over-sized parka with fur hood. Layered and lacquered prints build on top of each-other, contrasting the traditional and the modern.
